Volunteer to Volunteer PDF Print E-mail

BWFSC (Gators) is a performance club and as such employs paid qualified coaches to undertake its training schedules.  However we also use unpaid volunteers to assist our coaches on poolside.

Volunteers on poolside are a valuable asset as they make it possible for our coaches to give all swimmers equal attention, ensuring the best possible training.

  • Would you like to help for just 1 hour a week?

It is a rewarding experience working with our young swimmers and BWFSC actively encourages and supports members to obtain the relevant qualifications, from Level 1 Teaching Acquatic Certificates to Club TimeKeepers.

A committee of hard working volunteers (mainly parents - but not all) undertakes the day to day running of the Club, but there are always other things to do which parents and swimmers can help with from time to time.  Voluntary help is what keeps any swimming club going.

There are currently vacancies on the Committee.  If you are interested in joining the Committee please contact the Club Secretary who will be able to give you further information.

  • We are also looking for volunteers for our Fundraising and Publicity Sub-Committee.
  • Are you good with figures and have experience of accountancy - then perhaps assist with club with your professional knowledge by joining the Finance Sub-Committee

The Club cannot run at 100% efficiency without a full committee.

The club desperately needs more parents to come forward and spare a little of their time to help out to keep the swimming club going.

  • We are looking for parents to help out on poolside on club nights - even if you can only spare 1 hour of your time when your own child is swimming, then we can start to build a rota to ensure that our Qualified Coaching Team has adequate help and support.  To start with you will receive help and support until you are confident in what you are required to do.

  • We are looking for parents to help out regularly at our monthly time trials

  • Do you fancy being a Club Time Keeper - it can be a little scarey at first - but once you have done it a few times it can be quite good fun being in the thick of things at a gala.  Maybe you could try your hand at time keeping at our monthly time trials.   To become an 'official' Club Time Keeper you would need to attend a short course  - but its nothing too daunting and its good to get qualified.   There is a course being run one Friday evening in September if you are interested!

  • We are looking for parents to support our Team Manager and help run our Team Events, otherwise it may become impossible to continue to run these events.

  • Would you like to help out covering the desk when you are at the pool

  •  Would you like to take responsibility for some small administrative task eg.  Certificate Monitor for the learn to swim

  • Perhaps you would like to have more of a voice in how the club is run, if so, then why not think about joining the committee.

To become a volunteer you will need to apply for membership of the club and the ASA (which is done by the Club) and will be subject to CRB checks in line with ASA Child Protection Policy.
